This melody certainly means something to you [refering to the Sweet Lullaby music video]. The composers are from the area, and it was in March 1994 that they received their Grammy Award in New York--since then, an interplanetary success, became ad music, that we sing in the shower. On the occasion of their prize, they "chewed the fat with" our team. This time, we join Deep Forest at home, in the Camp Brezy. "Sweet Lullaby" is sort of our own "My Way," right? I hope that it's, uh, a song that will live...that it will have the same longevity. Anyway, I have the presumption to hope so! In fact, that's what they are not, is presumptious. They are preparing their new album, like every time, delibarately avoiding reproducing the same recipe. Eric to Michel: Faudra pas, ceder au groove, tu vois, RnB actuel, quois. We don't want to fall into, to fall into a groove, you know, an actual RnB groove. Moi, jaime beaucoup commencer a travaille. It goes in the, the direction [unintelligible: "that doesn't mean"?]...that is to say, to find very evocative elements, interesting voices, it is...I like that lots. I love starting to work. It often begins with listening to a sample from an existing CD, and then the planning for a journey. You just watched the birth of the embryo of their sixth opus. Deep Forest is also two individuals. They take time apart, regularly, always retaining the plaisure of sharing. Michel has just immersed himself in song. I've wanted to explore several worlds simultaneously. That means doing a project that is very atmospheric, electronically speaking, but which explores the world of film music, rock, and also various traditional music. All of that, combining to form a new thing--to me, that's the [thing that makes the music?] sing. After "Sweet Lullaby," gold albums, platinum, silver, all followed--a glory that brought them to the attention of the whole world. Peter Gabriel, Youssou N'Dour, Neneh Cherry all called on them. They've continued to create film music, advertizing, for Japan and the United States. It's in this way that the studio of Eric Mouquet has become an indispensable studio for artists. On this particular morning, they're receiving the Marcellesi brothers, Corsicans, who came to work on their album "Duo," with Bruel [Famous French musician], who will also set foot across this threshold. ...the group Deep Forest, and all that. And there's a whole--there's musicality, friendship, sharing, and it really feels, it feels like home, there. And as always, the two collaborators of Deep Forest like to rejoin to share their opinions on their respective work. <Inaudible exchange between Eric and Michel: ("ca ne [comporte?] pas, les attaques..."> -- "they don't [line up?] the attacks" [of the strings] "c'est un equipe jeune, toujours" --"it's a young group, always" 2:38 Narrator: --ce qui ne les empeches pas non plus de penser enmeme temps au future Deep Forest --which doesn't prevent them from thinking, at the same time, of the future of Deep Forest. We spend a long time to make a Deep Forest album, it can take about six months in general, so, if we start in the springtime, it will be done by Christmas. And then afterwards, the whole process of fabrication, work at the disk producing company, for marketing it...it wouldn't be [much less than?] a year, more or less. At this rate, from 1994 to today, Deep Forest has produced five albums. Not all of them, it is true, have had the same success as the first, but all have been conceived in the North, with inevitably, excursions to the whole planet. We've set a return date for 2006. |
