Music Detected: Honjo Song Written by Deep In The Jungle05/27/07 Fans in Europe and Asia now have a chance to buy Honjo Song, an unreleased track from Deep Forest's last studio album, Music Detected. Honjo Song was in fact supposed to have been released in 2002 in place of Dignity, on the 'world' version of Music Detected (catalog #506355 5), but the release never surfaced. Recently Honjo Song has begun appearing in online digital music stores in France, Britain, and Taiwan. The good news is that this track can be purchased for just a dollar or two, instead of the price of a costly import album.
Honjo Song is named for a Japanese traditional singer who Deep Forest visited and recorded while in Japan. Honjo's vocals can be heard in the background, with Mahalakshmi Iyer's (India) voice front and center. Honjo Song has less of the rock sound present on many of the other Music Detected tracks, with no live drums and less prominent guitars. There is also a small touch of jazz-funk piano, that brings to mind Josh Groban's recent composition Machine (co-composed by Eric Mouquet and Herbie Hancock).
