Eric Mouquet was born in Valenciennes, France on March 19th, 1960.  He grew up with a brother, Cristophe, 5 years his younger.

At age 15, he developed a love for astronomy, which he still cultivates to this day.  He has an observatory located in the small village of Rumaucourt.  Built in 1999, this observatory produces professional-quality images, many of which have been published in astronomy magazines.

Eric's passion for music began to flower in his early teens, when a friend was given an electric organ for his birthday.  He self-taught himself the art, and began playing with a local band at age 16.  With this group, he played songs by Rolling Stones, Yes, and Genesis.

Later, Eric began to compose music for such noted French musicians as Patsy, Herbert Leonard, and Jackie Quartz.  He also began to produce music for advertisements.

In 1990, while working on an electronica dance project, Eric met Michel Sanchez.  Together, they decided to create the project now known as Deep Forest.

Today, Eric lives with his wife in northern France.  They are expecting their first child soon.
